Jonny Flynn Ahead of Recovery Schedule

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Jonny Flynn is off crutches and able to workout in a pool.

The Breakdown
Flynn was expected to be out until late November, so he this appears to be a sign he'll be back a bit earlier than expected. More than anything, this could hurt the value of Luke Ridnour as we expected to get a good month of starts out of him until Flynn returned. Keep an eye on Flynn's recovery as your draft approaches.

Byron Scott Wants Mo Williams to be More of a Playmaker

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott wants Mo Williams to play more like he did with the Milwaukee Bucks by controlling the ball and initiating the offense.

The Breakdown
Scott basically wants Williams to play more like a point guard. In his years alongside LeBron James, it was LeBron who was doing most of the ballhandling and the offense went through him. Williams was basically a spot up shooter with LeBron around. If Williams can play more like a scoring point guard, as he had in the past, he could have a great season. His scoring is likely to jump a bit with the absence of LeBron, but what could make a huge jump are his assist numbers if he does indeed orchestrate the offense.

We really like Mo Williams entering the season because he's on a team that needs his offense. With the possible exception of Antawn Jamison, no one else on the Cavaliers roster can carry the scoring load. They need Williams to be explosive offensively and that appears to be his more natural style of play. Williams has a great chance of outperforming his average draft position if you're able to get him with a pick in the 50s or later.

Suns Reacquire Dwayne Jones

The Phoenix Suns have signed Dwayne Jones. Terms of the deal were undisclosed. Jones was part of the trade that brought Hedo Turkoglu to the desert. Jones was later released by the Raptors, allowing Phoenix to sign him.

The Breakdown
Jones doesn't figure to see much, if any, playing time. He'll be at the end of the bench or inactive for much of the season, with a possibility he'll be sent down to the D-League. He's not on our fantasy radar.

Hines' may not be a household name, but fans of real Hip Hop will certainly recognize the sample lifted from his song 'Our Generation'. Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth sampled the cut (and lyric!) for their song 'Straighten It Out' on the legendary MECCA AND THE SOUL BROTHER album. Check 'em both out below! The lyrics to the song were actually penned by a Chicago public school teacher... Pick up the magazine and read the rest.

Fashion winter 2011

Stuart Vevers has unearthed a Hollywood heroine in Loewe’s Madrid archive. “We recently found a visitor’s book signed by Ava Gardner,” he said backstage. “That’s been a bit special.” It explained why Old Blue Eyes was on the soundtrack of the Fall Winter 2010 2011presentation.

Gardner fled to live in Madrid when her marriage to Frank Sinatra was on the rocks, in 1955, after filming The Barefoot Contessa in Europe. While amusing herself with, among other things, a virile bullfighter, she also found time to pick up the occasional handmade leather item in Loewe’s Gran Via store.

Words used by the brand’s creative director of Bottega Veneta Tomas Maier, to describe his new resort collection for spring summer 2011 seem very appropriate: “architectural”, “graphic” and “simple lines.”

This brand, like Fendi, Hermes and Louis Vuitton, are better known for their handbags and accessories but not for clothing, so it’s no easy feat to make a statement with their fashion collections. However, this particular collection, stands out. The german designer Maier, has been able to raise Bottega Veneta fashion to a new level.

Graphic touches were particularly noticeable. Prom dresses, the most beautiful pieces of the collection. T-shirts inspired by wetsuits are also highlighted.

John Galliano presented in Shanghai his new resort collection for Spring / Summer 2011. Many expected that this collection was inspired by Asia, but it was not, was a entirely parisien collection.

The catwalk showed a lot of pieces inspired by the French New Wave in the ’60s, with floral prints, ruffles, stripes and pastel colours. Mint green, peaches and roses, the colour palette was very feminine and naive.

“I didn’t really want to do ‘China’ at all. Not only because I have done that, but because I didn’t think it was appropriate,” the designer said. “I just thought it would be really fierce, really cool, to present le savoir faire français.” And that he did, with a savvy blend of ready-to-wear and couture. “I was just trying to recapture that excitement that was happening at that time in Paris, which is very similar to what is happening in Shanghai today,” he said.
