Boston Celtics big man Jermaine O'Neal sat out the team's win on Thursday over the Heat with left knee soreness. He'll also miss tonight's game against Memphis. O'Neal has left the team and returned to Boston to figure out a definitive course of treatment for his ailment.
The Breakdown
Jermaine has likely missed his opportunity to be fantasy relevant this year due to the injury. With Shaq out, Jermaine was getting an opportunity to start, but now we don't know if he'll see even 15 minutes a game when he's healthy. Since the 2004-05 season, O'Neal has been one of the most injury-riddled players in the NBA so the news that he's ailing again is not a surprise.
Glen Davis is currently soaking up the bulk of the minutes off the bench for Boston. O'Neal may get a chance to play when he's healthy, but he's the most likely to fall out of the rotation when Kendrick Perkins returns. He's only worth holding onto in the deepest of leagues if you need additional center help. He should be dropped in most leagues.
