The Team You Will Soon Hate
Everyone needs to get ready to hate the Chicago Bears. Reason being, Devin Hester is going to destroy your favorite team. He'll line up in the backfield and bust ten and fifteen yard runs on sweeps. He'll divert defenses from the middle of the field for fear of his outside speed, leaving the middle open for Cedric Benson. You'll see Hester in the slot catching quick slants. You'll see Hester rolling out of the backfield and catching swing passes. You'll see him lining up out wide and burning corners deep. You'll see Devin Hester when you sleep. And all the while your best friend is going to be standing there, grinning and laughing at you.
Because he has the other controller.
The one controlling the Bears on your Madden game.
The move of Devin Hester from CB to RB may or may not have much impact in real life. Hester might become a viable receiving target out of the backfield: he might not catch a single pass. I can assure you however, that Hester and his first ever 100 speed rating on Madden are going to haunt you. If Hester's offensive stats in the game are high enough so that he catches three out of five passes and doesn't fumble everytime he touches the ball Lovie Smith has just turned the Bears into the ultimate Madden cheese team. All of your tough nosed friends that liked to play with the best defensive teams like the Bears, Bucs, or Ravens always used to have to accept the tradeoff of having to play with a less than dynamic offense.
But now...
For all intents and purposes, Hester at running back just gave the video game Bears the equivalent of Reggie Bush to pair with Cedric Benson. And even if real life Devin Hester flames out on offense, you are going to have to deal with him week in and week out, because the already defensively superior Bears just became the number one pick of Madden fans everywhere.
So just make sure you pick them first
