Thirsty? Have A Seahawk
As has been previously reported, Jones Soda was able to outbid Coca-Cola to secure a five year deal with the Seattle Seahawks to become their exclusive soft drink provider. Now, if you are familiar with Jones Soda, you probably know these two things already. Jones produces some non-traditional flavors, and they also have very unique pictures on their labels. Well, the Seahawks partnership has affected the latter of those two things, as reported in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer:
"Being in the spotlight is nothing new for Deion Branch and Josh Brown, yet the two Seattle Seahawks were genuinely awe-struck Monday when they saw their images on Jones Soda bottles at the team's headquarters.
The wide receiver and kicker will join quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, tackle Walter Jones and linebacker Lofa Tatupu as the featured players on Jones Soda bottles this upcoming season, when the upstart Seattle company becomes the official non-alcoholic beverage partner at Qwest Field and its Events Center."
Now, my first question is "Where is Shaun Alexander?" I am assuming it is probably some sort of conflicting endorsement issue, but it does seem a little odd that he would be absent from the lineup. Jones isn't just stopping with the player's images on the bottles. Oh no, even you the fan could be on the labels:
"During the games, Jones Soda will have photographers roaming the stadium taking pictures, and those images will be placed on seahawks.com. Fans then can buy and customize their own 12-packs through Jones Soda's myjones.com.
When asked if a game-winning touchdown or field goal could be included in those photos, Leiweke said that was a possibility."
Personally, I have been a longtime fan of Jones Soda, and my only problem is that they are not offering my personal favorite, FuFu Berry Soda, at the Seahawks games. The reason for this is that they company is pushing the above pictured Green Apple and Berry Lemonade flavors since they represent the team's color scheme. They are however expanding their drink lineup to include cola, diet cola, and bottled water in a move that seems to stem directly from their Seahawks contract. All I can say is, best of luck Jones, I'll be rooting for you.
